Tango5

5 soloists in the footsteps of Astor Piazzolla

"Tango5" stands for the music of Astor Piazzolla, "5" for the musicians, their very own style and their origins.

Founded in 2021, Tango5 is made up of current and former members of the Vienna Symphony Orchestra as well as established soloists from the classical and jazz scene:
Sophie Heinrich
(Bavaria, violin), Miloš Todorovski (Serbia, bandoneon), Ignacio Giovanetti (Uruguay, guitar), Maria Radutu (Romania, piano), Ivaylo Iordanov (Bulgaria, double bass).

In the original line-up of Piazzolla, Tango5 sometimes create their programs in close connection to the original tradition, sometimes in a completely new, individual dress.

The quintet's own arrangements and spontaneous improvisations make it unmistakable; its tango sometimes has a jazzy or Balkan tinge, with Viennese echoes or a bossa nova touch - just as the musicians' backgrounds are very diverse and multicultural. This results in a musical mix of classical music from baroque to the 21st century, crossover and world music.

After their debut concert at the Wiener Konzerthaus, the ensemble has played to packed halls in Austria: irrepressible energy, closeness to the audience, changing presentations by the musicians and their stylistic versatility make every Tango5 evening an experience.
